Then visit Ephesus The ancient ruins in four region -Ephesus, Ayasuluk Hill, Artemision and Selçuk- are visited by nearly three million tourists each year. As the first marble-made city Ephesus’ important buildings are St Mary Church which also popular as Councils Church. Two councils meeting has been held in this church. Celcius Library, Agora, Terrace Houses and Ephesus Theatre with 25.000 visitors capacity are other important remains.
Next stop is St Mary House. The house of Virgin Mary which is situated on forest area on Bülbül Mountain, is a cruciform-planned shack. Jesus entrusted his mother to St. John. St. John brought her to Ephesus which is a glorious city of that time. He provided this house to accomadate her instead of staying in the city center which was insecure to her. The house was discovered in the 19th century by following the descriptions in the reported visions of , a nun and visionary. Today It is an important destinaton for Christianity.
Another place is St. John Basilica, After Romans acep Christianity as official religion, Ephesus start to gain religional importance. Roman Emperor Justinian period, it was established a marvelous chapel. Chapel also contain the believed burial site of John the Apostle.
